WAYNE ROONEY has sparked more speculation about his future — by removing the phrase ‘Manchester United player’ from his Twitter page.
After Alex Ferguson announced his resignation as United boss yesterday, the focus today switched to Rooney.
His future has been in doubt for months and reports have suggested he has told the club he wants to leave this summer.
And while United are insisting the England striker is not for sale, rumours are rife that he will quit.
Everton boss David Moyes is the hot favourite to replace Ferguson and Rooney’s relationship with the Scot has been strained in the past.
Despite giving him his debut aged 16, Moyes even sued Rooney’s publisher in 2008 over a story in the striker’s book ‘My Story So Far’.
Rooney personally apologised to Moyes after the out-of-court settlement but it is unclear whether they are back on good terms.
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have been linked with making bids for Rooney.
And today’s Twitter facelift will only further heighten talk that his is heading for the Old Trafford exit at the end of the season.
