Meet the Nigerian American Man That Could One Day Be US President

His name is John Olumba and he was born in Detroit, Michigan to a father who hails from Owerri, Imo State. The 31 year old dapper politician is quickly rising in the political sphere of the United States with a current run for the Mayor of Detroit.

His political credentials are impeccable and in an ironic twist, this young man of Nigerian origin is responsible for bringing down corrupt politicians in the United States.

According to his Wikipedia page and other reports widely available on the internet, Olumba initiated investigations into corrupt county executives (the equivalent of Nigerian local government chairmen) that led to convictions for corruption and misappropriation of public funds.

His wikipedia page also reveals, “In August 2010, Olumba won the state’s most crowded primary with 16 people seeking office by a 2 to 1 margin over the closest competitor. Olumba was elected in November 2010 in a landslide victory to serve in the 96th legislature of the State of Michigan. Although Olumba is a native of Detroit, Olumba’s father migrated to Detroit from Africa as a student-activist during the Nigerian Civil War and, once elected, Olumba became the first Nigerian elected to a state office in Michigan history.”

He is married with three daughters and is also a licensed minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
