20 Men Assault White Woman In South Africa (PICTURED)

An Alberton guesthouse manager says she was assaulted by a group of drunk guests when she told them not to make a noise over the weekend, but they accused her of using a racial slur against them.

Leslie Rabie told The Star that she had heard a commotion just after midnight on Sunday morning and went to investigate.

She found a group of around 20 people at the pool of the Michelle Corporate Guest Lodge, drinking and singing to loud music, about to braai.

They had just returned from a wedding and appeared to be drunk.

Nose broken

When she confronted them and told them not to make a commotion, she was accused of being “a white bitch” and intimidated. She was then hit in the face with a knobkierie, breaking her nose, and was thrown in the pool.

When her boyfriend, a police officer, tried to intervene, he was assaulted as well.

Rabie got out of the pool and was chased by two guests who followed her into the house, smashing plates and breaking glasses, causing R5 500 worth of damage.

When police arrived, “everything went to hell”, said Rabie.

Guests told police officers that Rabie had used racial slur against them, at which point the police officers demanded that she give the guests a refund.

“Why would a white woman go between 15 drunk black men and call them ‘kaffirs’? I want to know how I used that word in a sentence,” Rabie said.

She said the police officers refused to take the situation seriously.

An Alberton police spokesperson confirmed that there had been an “altercation” at the guesthouse and said some of the guests had been drunk and had broken “things”.

Rabie said she felt disappointed as police couldn’t be trusted in an area where about 95% of guesthouse owners were women.
